Bio
I have always loved surrounding myself in a team environment with people who push you to be better. I played travel soccer starting at 9 years old- my teammates are still some of my best friends and were the bridesmaids at my wedding.
I became passionate about nutrition in college, learning from my Aunt who has her doctorate in Nutrition, trying to combat the “Freshman 15”. I studied Intelligence Analysis at JMU and now work for the DoD- but also became a certified personal trainer in college, youth sports nutrition certified, and worked at the gym as a Fitness Instructor and Operations Supervisor. I did CrossFit occasionally while at JMU, but got really into it after I graduated in 2019. I became CFL1 certified in 2022 and have been coaching ever since. My husband, our two kids, and I are grateful for the Vint Hill community.
Turning Point
My first pregnancy was challenging for me- I was at peak fitness levels and able to perform fairly competitively at CrossFit when we found out we were expecting. I didn’t yet understand that scaling workouts, pregnancy, and postpartum fitness recovery were only temporary and short term in the grand scheme of lifelong fitness. Then, around 6 months postpartum, I developed severe PPD/PPA. Leaning on my husband, my family, faith, and fitness community I was able to pull out of it and am stronger because of it. I really enjoyed fitness during my second pregnancy- I scaled what I needed to, adjusted based off of how I was feeling, and worked in more mobility. I love working out alongside my kids.
Motivation & Passion
Being healthy for my family is my main motivation, along with teaching our kids the lifestyle of fitness and nutrition. I also am a huge advocate for moms everywhere, and run a Mom nutrition/fitness community group. I am passionate about working with people at all stages of life through their fitness journey- I’ve coached travel soccer, kids fitness classes, spin classes, adult CrossFit, and senior fitness sessions. Come see us at CFVH!
